Why Verification Matters
Verification is not a formality. It is the foundation on which everything on ShokaConnect is built. Only verified businesses can post projects, receive payments, and engage in transactions on the platform.
We verify every business thoroughly, not just who they are, but what they have done. That means we look at your business history, client track record, reviews from previous work, and whether your business meets the relevant compliance and industry standards for your sector. The goal is simple: every business on the platform should be exactly who they say they are.
What You Will Need
- Company Registration Documents — Official registration paperwork confirming your business is a registered legal entity.
- Director Identification — Clear ID copies of all company directors.
- Authorisation Letter — Required if the person registering the business is not a listed director.
- Business Track Record — Evidence of past work, client references, or project history relevant to your industry. The stronger this is, the smoother your verification will be.
- Industry Compliance Documentation — Depending on your sector (construction, healthcare, financial services, etc.), you may be required to demonstrate relevant certifications, licenses, or regulatory compliance.
💡 Tips for Fast Verification Make sure all documents are clear, legible, and match your registered company name exactly. Use your official company email address when registering. Complete your business description and services list before submitting, a well-prepared profile speeds up the review. Respond promptly if our team reaches out for additional information. Include strong evidence of past work. The more we can see about what your business has delivered, the faster the process moves. |
After You Submit
You will receive regular status updates while your application is under review. Once approved, your profile will display a green Verified badge, a signal to every business on the platform that you have passed our full verification process.
⚠ Important Businesses that are not yet verified can still create profiles and explore the platform. However, posting projects, submitting proposals, and receiving payments are only available to verified businesses. |
How to find the right businesses, explore storefronts, and request quotations. |
What Is the Marketplace?
The Marketplace is the heart of ShokaConnect, the place where verified businesses discover each other, explore opportunities, and initiate transactions. Think of it as a curated business directory where every listing has been verified and every profile is accountable.
What You Can Do in the Marketplace
🔍 | Search and Filter Find businesses by industry, service type, location, or community. Use filters to narrow results to exactly what you are looking for. |
🏪 | Browse Business Storefronts Each verified business has a full storefront showing their services, past work, photos, descriptions, and reviews. You can assess a business thoroughly before making contact. |
⭐ | Check Reviews and Track Records Every business carries a review history built from real transactions on the platform. Use this to inform your decisions before engaging. |
🌍 | Filter by Community Looking specifically for Zimbabwean businesses, or businesses from another diaspora community? You can filter by nationality to find businesses within your network. |
How to Engage
- Request for Quotation (RFQ) — The primary way to engage. Ideal for custom projects, construction, consulting, logistics, renovations, and any service where you need a tailored proposal. Submit your requirements and receive competitive quotes from verified businesses.
- Get It Now (Coming Soon) — For products and standard services with clear, fixed pricing. Browse, select, and transact immediately. This feature is currently in development and will be available after launch.
💡 Best Practices in the Marketplace Complete your own storefront before you start browsing. Businesses you contact will look at your profile too. When sending a Request for Quotation, be as specific as possible-timelines, budget range, location, and scope. Clear briefs attract better proposals. Check reviews before engaging. A business with a strong review history is a lower-risk partner. Respond to messages promptly. Good communication builds confidence on both sides of a deal. |
How to build a strong presence, earn trust, and grow your business on ShokaConnect. |
Building a Profile That Wins
Your profile is your reputation on the platform. Businesses with complete, well-presented profiles consistently attract more inquiries, better proposals, and stronger long-term partnerships.
- Professional logo and banner — First impressions matter. Use high-quality visuals that reflect your brand.
- Compelling company description — Be clear about who you are, what you do, and what makes you the right choice. Write for the client, not for yourself.
- Detailed service information — Include specifics: what you offer, how you work, typical timelines, and any specialisations. Vague descriptions generate vague interest.
- Examples of past work — Photos, case studies, or project summaries that demonstrate real delivery. This is often the deciding factor for a potential client.
- Keep it updated — An outdated profile signals an inactive business. Update your services, pricing, and portfolio regularly.
Communication That Builds Trust
- Respond within 24 hours — Speed signals professionalism. Businesses that reply quickly win more work. Businesses that go quiet lose it.
- Be clear and specific — Avoid vague answers. If you need more information before committing to a quote, ask specific questions rather than giving a non-answer.
- Keep it on the platform — All communication, agreements, and documents should live on ShokaConnect. This protects you and creates a record that matters if anything ever goes wrong.
- Be honest about what you can deliver — Overpromising and underdelivering damages your review score and your reputation. It is always better to be upfront about constraints.
Delivering Work That Earns Reviews
- Set realistic timelines — Build in buffer. A project delivered on time with a small margin to spare feels better than one that barely scrapes the deadline.
- Update progress regularly — Clients who feel informed are far less likely to raise disputes. Keep them in the loop, especially on longer projects.
- Deliver quality, consistently — Your review score is your most visible asset on the platform. Every piece of work you deliver either builds it or damages it.
- Ask for reviews — After a successful project, it is perfectly professional to ask your client to leave a review. Most satisfied clients will, if prompted.
Growing Your Business on ShokaConnect
- Maintain a high response rate — The platform tracks how quickly and consistently you respond. This metric is visible to potential clients and affects how your profile is ranked.
- Post projects, not just profiles — Buyers who are active in the Marketplace (posting projects and sending RFQs) get more visibility and signal that they are serious players in the community.
- Engage with the community — ShokaConnect is built on relationships. The businesses that thrive here are the ones that show up, engage, and invest in the community — not just the transactions.
💡 The Bottom Line ShokaConnect works best for businesses that show up with integrity, deliver on their promises, and treat the platform as a long-term investment, not a quick win. Trust is the currency here. Earn it, and the platform will work hard for you. |
How to post projects, manage milestones, and transact safely. |
Posting a Project
Projects are how you bring work to the platform and invite verified businesses to compete for it. A well-written project post attracts higher quality proposals.
1 | Create Your Project |
Click “Post a Project” and fill in the project title, a clear description of what you need, your budget range, and key details, including location, timeline, and scope. Be as specific as you can. Vague projects attract vague proposals.
2 | Receive and Review Proposals |
Proposals from interested verified businesses come directly to your project dashboard. Review each one, compare pricing and approach, and use in-platform messaging to ask questions before making a decision.
3 | Award the Project |
When you find the right fit, award the project to your chosen business. From here, you set up milestones, clear, agreed delivery points that structure the project and protect both sides.
4 | Track Progress and Release Payment |
As milestones are completed, you review and approve delivery. Payment is only released once you are satisfied. Every approval is tracked and documented on the platform. |
How Escrow Payments Work
Every transaction on ShokaConnect is protected by a secure escrow payment process. Here is how it works:
- The buyer funds the project through the platform. Funds are held securely by our licensed escrow partner, they do not go to the seller until you approve delivery.
- As each milestone is completed and approved by the buyer, the corresponding funds are released to the seller.
- At no point does money change hands without your explicit approval. Both parties have full visibility of the transaction at all times.
⚠ Stay On Platform We strongly encourage you to use ShokaConnect’s built-in tools, milestones, messaging, documentation, and escrow, throughout the entire project. Moving a project off-platform removes all protections for both parties. If something goes wrong outside the platform, we cannot help. |
Understanding your balance, payouts, and how money moves on the platform. |
Your ShokaConnect Wallet
Your wallet is where funds from completed transactions land after milestones are approved and released from escrow. It gives you a clear, real-time view of your earnings and available balance.
📊 | Transaction History See a full, itemised record of every payment received, milestone released, and withdrawal made, with timestamps and project references. |
💳 | Withdrawals Transfer your available balance to your linked business bank account at any time, subject to minimum withdrawal amounts. |
🔒 | Escrow Visibility See exactly how much is currently held in escrow for active projects and what is pending release. No surprises. |
How Payouts Work
- Once you complete a milestone and the buyer approves it, the corresponding funds are released from escrow and moved to your wallet.
- From your wallet, you can withdraw to your registered business bank account at any time. Withdrawals are processed within the timelines specified in the platform.
- Your full transaction history is always available for download, useful for accounting, tax records, and business reporting.
⚠ Important Ensure your business bank account details are correctly entered and verified in your profile settings before your first withdrawal. The platform fee is deducted at the point of transaction completion, before funds are moved to your wallet. Your wallet balance always reflects what is available to you after fees. |
How we handle disagreements fairly, transparently, and with full documentation. |
How Disputes Are Handled
Disagreements happen, even with the best intentions on both sides. ShokaConnect has a clear, structured process to resolve disputes fairly, using the full project record as the basis for any decision.
1 | Raise a Dispute | |
Either party can raise a dispute directly from the project page. Provide a clear description of the issue, along with any supporting evidence, messages, photos, milestone records, and any agreements made on the platform.
2 | The Other Party Responds
The other party is notified immediately and has 5 business days to respond with their account of the situation and any supporting documentation.
3 | ShokaConnect Mediates
Our mediation team reviews the full case, including all platform communications, milestone records, and submitted evidence. We aim to complete our review within 48 to 72 hours of receiving both sides.
4 | Resolution | |
We facilitate a fair resolution based on the evidence and the agreed terms of the project. Both parties are informed of the outcome and the reasoning behind it.
5 | Escalation (If Needed)
If a resolution cannot be reached through mediation, the case can be escalated to our escrow partner’s formal dispute resolution process, which provides an additional layer of independent oversight.
💡 How to Avoid Disputes Write clear, specific milestone descriptions before work begins. Ambiguity is the most common cause of disagreements. Communicate regularly during the project and keep all discussions on the platform, this creates a documented record. Upload all agreements, scope changes, and amendments through the platform. A verbal agreement has no standing in a dispute. If something feels off mid-project, raise it immediately through messaging rather than waiting until the end.
